vin number and sva
Hi gents making a start on sva paper work and im confused already.can i choose a vin for my mk indy or do i have to have one given to me by my local
office?also is there any way of getting a non q plate.my mk has a fireblade engine rest of bits obviously came off donor sierra.i believe on the score
table i am under the magic number.any ideas.

Hi
I found you can make your own VIN number up, but just don't tell the DVLA it's made up.
Schhhhh don't tell anyone, but what I did was tell the DVLA that my number was issued by the Roadster builders club.
And that's what is stamped on my chassis.
They checked the number on there database and said yup that's OK.

go for shortes VIn - fewer digits = lighter. also if the VIn is already allocate, you then would append antoehr digit or two.

O (OHs) are fine to use I have one on my DVLA issued number.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

I too have a 0 which has now become a O and it was issued by DVLA.
