is a fire panel required
hi all, i have been looking around for info but cant seem to find what i am looking for.
can anyone tell me is a fire panel required by law or for the sva/iva. i have a fuel tank that is fitted behind my seats. the seats are moulded as one
like the aerial atom so there are no gaps and if the fuel tank did catch on fire it would take a little while for it to burn through so you would have
plenty of time to get out. if it isnt required i was thinking of sticking some heat resistant material to the back of the seats for piece of mind.

i see things like that regularly. (i am a retained firefighter). but having a metal fire pane wont even stop that if its on fire my main concern is
getting out before it burns through. i would be more concerned if cars explode when on fire but that doesnt happen like in the movies.

Hi it look like you are making a very nice job of your car'
why not fit a piped in fire extinguisher to be on the safe side
You have a lot of fiber glass around you in that car

The MNR vortx has a plastic panel behind the seats. The fuel tank is behind that. They pass SVA just fine.
Petrol fires won't be stopped by plastic or aluminium. What you need is enough time between noticing the fire and getting out of the car.
Will your seats provide you that much protection?

excellent that is the answer i was hoping for. My plan is to stick some heat shield material to the back of the seat which will slow the burn rate
down.
thanks

Nice looking project. sva could be a problem as photos seem to indicate it is being built on commercial premises, could be constuded as not an amateur
build

didnt know that would make any difference, is there a different test if you want to put it in to production?

no doubt some-one more knowlegable will be along in a minute, but for sva they like photos in a home garage with lots of tools lying around, putting
it into production as a kit I don't think would be a problem as it's the person building the kit who has to show it's amateur
built
