Jos i use Van beeks just down the road from me at the clock tower island. His dad has retired now but the lad who has taken over seems really
interested in cars like ours.
He says that its so much easier to MOT them as he knows the owners look after them more. Both my range rover and kitcar go there every year.
Last year i told him i was worried the sump will hit and he said we could go out to test the brakes (me driving) if i wanted.
Its not cheap mind, £45 a go with free retest which is steep round these ways but if i means he will take care of the car and also be truthfull with
me i dont mind paying the extra.
Autotec in tweedale/madeley is also honest but not into cars. I made the mistake of using a new place this year for my moms car, which soon afterwards
i found out just drove it to the main madeley Mot station for them to do. The guy said the car is rotted, needs a whole new floor and 2 tyres and then
said he would do it all for £300. I did it myself (which he strongly advised not to) and when i got the car up on the drive i found out why he didnt
want me to do it. There were 2 patched that needed doing, took me 3 hours in total including the underseal and paint. I didnt even bother taking it
back to them and took the car direct to the mot station where it passed.
you learn i supose.
