Changing engines - emissions?
Am I right in thinking that when I change my pinto to the duratec the MOT emissions test will still be on the emissions printed on my V5 which are
based on the pinto? I.e to 3.5%Co and 1200ppm HC
Even though mines a Q plate, it's still got the emissions printed on the V5...

Are you going to inform DVLA of the engine change? Not sure if there will be any change in requirements, I would accept V5 if I was testing a kit car.

Will notify dvla of engine change as the engine number is going to change. Capacity will remain the same though....

Notify your insurance as well... You dont want them to invalidate it cos you didnt mention it.
They will use any excuse NOT to pay out if you give them the opportunity, ie by not telling them of changes.

So you have a Q with emissions on V5. I have age related with no emissions details. Nowt like a nit of consistency is there.
If i was Mr DVLA id check the new number, see its a spanking leather bodiced duratec and change emissions to 0.5% out of the goodness of my heart. Do
you have room for 4 Cats?
Only joking of course, or should that read jealous???? Ill put a quid on that they just change the number and nothing else.

Emissions stayed the same when I changed my engine . Just changed the engine number on the V5 and sent it to DVLA . It came back with the new engine
number on and the same emissions on the bottom of the V5 . No problems at the MOT either .
