where to test (pre SVA)?

any top tips on testing tips? (legal)

I need to do a couple of miles pre-SVA to test brakes, speedo, leakage etc. and generally cheer my self up.

I'm in Oxford and have a trailer. Thinking of an empty car park at the weekend. Any thoughts?

Matt

If you can access it as a member of the public then I believe you'd need to still be insured. If it's locked but you're allowed in then your OK. IMHO

I have third party insurance from my tintop policy.

I can't see myself being prosecuted. But would like to find somewhere that I can get on with it without being kicked off.

but doesnt your third party entitlement to drive vehicles with owners position only apply to vehicles which are taxed and insured already, which in this case would not be the case (correct if i'm wrong).

Be careful!

You only have third party cover from your tintop policy when the vehicle being driven is insured by somebody else.

I took mine to a MOT station, got them to test brakes, emissions etc without adding it officially as an MOT.

Did trailer it there and back mind U, no insurance at the time.

I would see if you can find a bit of private land and get the permission of the owner. The easiest one i can think of would be a farm but that could prove to be a rather bumpy test.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Any old airfields in your neck of the woods?

not sure about airfields. There are a few that are in use, but not sure about unused ones.

Thanks for all the comments on insurance.
