Another SVA fail today
Though most it it was fairly minor, forgot the reflectors on the back of the car, couple of small easily fixed shrap edges in the cockpit, twisted
brake hose, need a nose cone grill and the most irritating, failed emissions on CO2 which was 1.07 instead of 0.3.
Only frustrating thing was the engine boiling over, yet the rad didn't seem to get hot. Checked the thermostat and the water pump, both ok, must
be in the plumbing....
Still, got a month to fix it cos they're now booked solid till the end of the month, can't imagine why
And thanks to James for coming along and lending some moral support.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Sounds like a good fail. Not too much to do. Sounds like you may have an air lock in the cooling system somewhere. I checked my system with an
infrared thermometer to check for any hot spots. Can get them for a tenner of ebay.

Hard luck.
Think you mean CO not CO2 (I know it's picky). 1.07 could just be the cat not up to temp. Ahot cat would drop that to almost zero but it'd
be pretty rich if that was a working cat reading.
Boiling over could also be the rad cap not holding pressure.

Yeah - sorry, CO .... might not have been able to get the CAT hot enough because of the overheating. Don't think it's the cap because the
temp gauge was reading 120 deg.
Def in right way round, won't fit the other way, don't think it's been changed since it was new.

Definitely sounds like an air-lock in the top hose probably. Does your thermostat have a little hole in it? If so then make sure the hole is at the
top. If not then drill a 3mm hole and make sure it is at the top. In fact, drill 3 holes 120 degrees apart and then it doesn't matter quite so
much which way around it is but ideally have one of the holes at the top. This will let air bleed through and prevent the thermostat from sitting in a
pocket of air which usually causes it not to open.
Also, try pumping the hoses by squeezing them and listening for air moving about.
Good luck,
Craig.

No probs Jasper.
A real pleasure to see such a nice car. Looks well put together and after the spin round the car park I can't wait to get a ride in it with the
correct exhaust and proper power map!
Jesus it's gonna be quick!
Cheers,
James

Thanks Craig for the advice, had a load more from another forum on getting the plumbing sorted, so I hope that will cure both the overheating as
emissions in one go.
