Using an exisiting kit car as the donor vehicle.

Hello,

I need your help with my latest cunning plan!

I have a Rickman Ranger kit car (don,t ask) which has a 1600 x-flow, 5 seed type 9 box and escort rear axle. It is correctly registered on an R plate with the right make and model on the V5.

My plan is to use this a this as my donor vehicle for an old school live axle Locost.

Will the fact that it is already a kit car help, hinder or make no difference to registering, SVAing and keeping it of a Q plate?

Hi there welcome to the forum.

I reckon itl make no difference at all. You will still need an IVA and the dvla will still issue what reg they fancy.

Sorry if it seems I'm coming across a bit rude, it's not intended but are you meaning you're planning to use the same VIN number and vehicle reg on your 7 as is on the Rickman because that's not allowed.
On another nore whereabouts are you in Elgin? Spent a couple of years up there myself. Joannas on Saturday night

Thanks for the comments which seem to all point to the donor car making little difference.

The intention is not to use the vin number just the strip the car as the engine, box, axle, steering, wiring, wheels, instruments, wipers and even the headlamps should all go into its next reincarnation.

The car cost less to buy with an MOT than the sum of the parts it will provide.

I had hoped that because so much of the vehicle is retained that it may have helped keep its 30 plus year "identity" when doing the red tape bit with VOSA/DVLA.

Thanks Ian.
