SVA Friday! no bloody chance!
well I think that my target is impossible to hit. I will be calling derby sva centre tomorrow to cancel the test on friday.
Just think that if I push I will fudge the thing up, and I want the car to be right not bodged.
Main things to do are:
Wiring (whole lot)
Make dash and upholster it
fit handbrake
bleed brake system
fit front calipers
fit cycle wing brackets
fit cycle wings
fit interior panels
bolt seats in
mount speedo sensor
make speedo trigger wheel
fit seat belts
make headlight bracket
fit all lights
make boot cover
fit new brake master cylinder
fit mirrors
fit bonnet catches
fit nosecone mesh
 <---------insane laughter
Hope they transfer the application to IVA and I just pay the difference.
Problem seems to be that jobs I thought would take a day, like fitting badywork, have ended up taking 3 days because of the bad tolerences and the
need to make spacers etc etc

That is a long list. Do we know what the protocol is on canceling SVA and booking IVA?

You have my sincere sympathies!! I know how easy it is to loose a few hours when jnr is wanting to dissolve your time and every quick job on the car
turns into a few hours that you havn't got!

Similar to my list a few days before the test last week, I went but as the engine wouldn't run they refused to test even though the rest of the
car was pretty much done ,so i've settled for IVA, they will refund your SVA fees less about £60 booking fee then you need to get IVA forms and
begin again......

I have a mate available but he might be more of the hinderence
I have two more full days that I can work on the car, but don't know if I will lose my money if I can't present it at the last minute.
Been working on it all day today and can't face looking at it anymore, hopefully tomorrow I'll feel better.

I know how you feel. My test is on Thursday and I still have a long list of things to do. The car is still on the build stands with the all the dash
wiring still to do and all the interior - seats, tunnel cover/and trim, belts, steering column not in yet. Engine runs but no idea as to the state of
the gearbox/drivetrain. The best result I had was the brakes - filled and then bled them with one of those one way valve jobs and have a firm pedal
and best of all - no leaks!
Nearly cancelled my SVA today but figured if I work through the night, tomorrow and tomorrow night I may have a chance

Don't they need three days notice to cancel?
If it runs, get done what you can and present it. I had my SVA last week and had a huge list of stuff to do with a couple of days to go. It's
surprising how much you can get done when you're up against it. I presented mine with some things incomplete, the tester was very understanding.
If you are too late to cancel it has to be worth a go.

I guess it's possible Challenge Anika style but like them you'd probably end up with a bodge. So you're best off resigning yourself
to IVA but just be pleased you now have the time to do a really good job.
You could set yourself the challenge of being the 1st IVA first-time pass!
I know the feelings of heart-sinking disappointment well though! At about 6am the morning of my test I still had a massive list of jobs to do. The car
was outside, I'd worked on it 24hrs straight, and suddenly the heavens opened.
I just stood there in the rain in exhausted, open-mouthed disbelief at the catastrophy!
Fortunately they were very understanding at SVA about me over-heating on the way to the test (  ) and I rebooked it about 3 weeks later.

Actually, that's a point.
Does the engine run?
If it does, sod the electrics, just get the brakes, mirrors and wings fitted on and bodge a dash from a sheet of mdf.
Then you have 6 months to do it all properly.

if the cars complete when SVA'd what are you then going to do with your time?
Get it to SVA man then rebuild it how you want it 
(i didn't think the list looked that long!)

that is a tough list mate. feel for you. Is it your first build?
Mine is Friday, and I have the following to do:
secure tunnel top
fit clevis pins to handbrake arms
cut and fit handbrake gator
wrap loom under dash
secure any low wires
wrap loom in engine bay and secure
secure brake flexis
refit scuttle, dash, nose cone (just a few bolts)
zip tie some mesh to the nose cone
drill and wire front indicators
adjust toe in/out and fit sva covers to all front suspension
take wheels to have road legal rubber mounted and refit
stamp chassis number
and most importantly, start the engine, let it warm up and see if I can get it running on more than 2 cylinders! otherwise its an emergency call to AB
to see if he can courier up some new plugs.
I'm confident I'll manage it, or get close enough to at least just get a fail rather than me sent home with the SVA refused.

hmm, not entirely impossible, but you'd have to be super human, and do everything right, first time, need no breaks, and stay up working all day
and all nite.

Get someone over pronto to help!!! A fail is definitely worth the extra hassle and $$$ you'll spend for IVA.

ring up and find out what the scoop is about rebooking SVA or will you get IVA.
Also see how long the you would have for SVA.
I have whittled the list down to those items that you really must have for safety reasons if driving. It is not bodging just missing out items that
would obvioulsy fail you but give you more SVA time.

thanks for the input guys. I think I will plod on with it and see how far I get. If it was running then life would be more straight forward.
I really appreciate the comments (most of them anyway  ) and offers of help. Maybe I will get over to stoneleigh but without the Indy.
