IVA Rules on exhausts

I know there was some question about exhaust systems and the IVA needing to be completely enclosed, does anyone know what the final outcome was, fully enclosed or as SVA

IF they intended it to mean 50mm insude the bodyline, could it be argued that they have worded this wrong?

In the case of side mounted exhausts the tailpipe must terminate no more than 50mm from the extreme outer edge of the vehicle

I would read that as, it can come out no more than 50mm from the widest point of the car. (Check page 255 for the sample diagram of 'extreme outer edge'

Oh I've read it totally wrong. As it says "no more than" 50mm it must mean outside that area whereas I thought it meant it had to be at least 50mm in from a line between front and rear wheels.
