Pre-SVA inspection to save time.....
Just a thought for those of you yet to SVA.
First time I SVA'd a locost I made up my own chassis number, then after SVA I had to come to an inspection appointment at my local DVLA - which
I had to wait over a week for when I was busting to get on the road.
This time I got the local DVLA office to give me a chassis number months before SVA. Then they sent out a guy to inspect it before the SVA. So this
time when I went to register the car with my MAC certificate I got my tax disk and number plate authorisation on the spot, so I was on the road the
day after SVA re-test.

What I want to know is how come they all have different ways of doing it? Surely there should be one system for all, isn't that what central
government is all about?

I don't know Jasp...it is quite mad.......
Back in 2004 when I phoned for a chassis number..they said it was a big NO NO to make up your own, they said they would send out an inspector, and
issue me with one if he was 'satisfied'....
He duly arrived, the build was in a position where the engine/gear box numbers could be easily seen, he verified that they were the same as stated on
my 'build' form, and the V5 for the Escort, went back to the office and called me with the chassis number (he had even advised me the best
places to stamp it).....
All of that detail went into 'my file' at DVLA Wimbledon, so when I went with my MAC in hand, they pulled up 'my
file'......read through the notes, saw all was in place, Reg number, tax issued.......
It all seems pretty logical to me.......cannot understand why some other areas make it such a headache for everyone!

A lot of places wont even consider an application until you have a MAC.
I know of at least 2 having tried both.
