DVLA - how long?

Anyone have any idea how long DVLA take to respond to a postal application for registration? I sent my forms off to Portsmouth DVLA special delivery last week and not heard back yet (but its only been 3 working days)

It's the photocard licence that I'm particularly worried about as I need it to go on holiday...

Give DVLA Swansea a call and they will send a message to your local office who will ring back within 2 hours. Hope your office is quicker than Carlisle. Currently got an Inspection date of 7th July from an application date of 6th April. Thats only the Inspection, nothing about the rest of the process. Got so p*ssed of, contacted MP and he has sent a letter to the DVLA Chief Executive. See what THAT does.

We put our papers through DVLA Nottingham door on the Saturday (when shut) and had a phone call on the Tuesday booking an appointment for the following Friday. We then had the paperwork the Thursday following the inspection. So from papers submitted to registration 20 days - not too bad

When SVA first came in, Manchester did my BUI before SVA, so after SVA I just went to the DVLA office and came away with tax disk, etc. same day - far more sensible.

Thanks guys. I sent it in the post as my nearest DVLA office is an 80 mile round trip so obviously a PITA to do it in person during the week.

I will wait until a week has passed and then give them a prod if I haven't heard anything back.

Missed a call from Portsmouth DVLA yesterday so had to go through the rigmarole of calling Swansea, they then email the local office, who then call you back within two hours - madness...

No doubt I will be in a meeting or my phone won't ring or whatever and will have to do all this again.

Hmm, they want another £5 and they've given me an appointment for 8th July. Not great as I go on holiday for 2 weeks on the 11th so my summer driving is really slipping
