filter to big???

hi i have a robin hood 2b with a 1.6 pinto in it and it has a weber 32dgv carb and a real slim filter ( its 1" 3/4 deep) yet it stil fouls the bonnet. any ideas on how to get the clearance other than cutting a hole in the bonnet? cheers ben

between the manifold and the carb? and just have a thin gasket in its place?

The spacer is to stop heat transfer and to create a smoother air flow, if you look at performance manifolds where hieght is not an issue then the manifold gets very tall.

Removing the spacer may cause you issues with exceesive heat in the carb, it will also reduce your power a little.

If the gap is marginal how about looking at slighty thinner engine mounts and drop the engine a tad.
