Quick SVA questions
Is self amalgamating tape ok to cover the top balljoint and locknut? (I will want to take it off after SVA on wednesday).
Also will my coilovers need protection over the adjusters?
Thanks
James

i would say no as tape is not a perminant fixing, pick up some of the ball joint covers off ebay for a couple of quid

How long ago was that? Im just thinking S/IVA may have got abit wiser on things like that.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Mine went through sva with bike iner tube wrapped around most things at the front. Use contact adhesive to stick it to itself. and some tie wraps for
additional security.

my tester used this criteria: If you can find the type of material you use on a production car he'll allow it.
So he wouldn't accept foam/tape etc but rubber for instance was fine.
Seemed fair to me.

If you have ever tried to remove self ama tape it is rather perminant

Mine went through with self amalgamating tape in April this year. Put quite a bit on and make sure it is "amalgamated"!

Drive shaft gaitors fit nicely over the protech adjusters
i used a piece of 30mm coolant hose with a slit down the middle, wrapped around the lock nut then zip tied with the zip ties facing backwards

I got through using self amalgamating tape in places. For the ball joints I used some offcuts of coolant hose (40mm id), cut a slot in the side and
tie wrapped them over the ball joints.
Couldn't have been more obvious that they were going to 'fall off' post test but nothing was said at the time. In the same wy that
the exhaust giard had 'fallen off' for my retest, but as he'd previously checked for sharp edges wasn't interested in the
slightest - that was a genuine mistake on my part and I would take the chance again though...

Mine passed with self amalgamating on the lower spring adjuster and top camber adjuster/lock nut, plus I made a little "wing" on the nose
cone to sheild the top mounting.
