Number plate positioning
Think i put this in the wrong section last time. I cant find anywhere in the SVA mannual that tells me how high etc to mount my number plates. Im
sure therell be some kind of regulations about it (there is for everything else) The reason i ask at this stage is that i want to hinge my bonnet/nose
behind it so the number plate will cover the hinges. How has anybody else managed to hinge theres all in one? Thanks, Andrew Ps, whats the sva
helpline phone number ive seen people mention? Is there one for beverly?

Thay can't check what isn't there. No need to fit plates for SVA.

So if i just fit a blank piece of plastic to cover the hinges, then the plate can go there after the test then?? Great, thanks.

I'm sure there was something in the draft SVA update circulated recently, which told the testers to take the position of the numberplate into
consideration when assessing the bodywork. In other words, if you have some hinges that would eventually be covered by the plate, then they
shouldn't fail them.
But do you want to leave yourself open to the tester's opinion?

some one also failed the sva due to the front brakets he had made to hold the front no plate failed the radius rules !!

timf, thats redicilous isnt it! oh well thanks for your advice any way guys, think ill put a pretend plate on just to be safe then. With very round
edges

Don't put any number on the pretend plate as this is a serious offence, falsifying a vehicle identity. A friend took his car for mot with the
donor plates on as he didn't want to look suspicious and the tester was a bit put out when he was asked not to put the number on the certificate
as the car was not yet registered. He was told to remove the plates before he went back out of the test centre or he would be liable for
prosecution.
