Another chassis inspection!
I sent our local DLVA office a letter last week, volunteering a VIN and generally asking a few questions about the processes...
...got a phone call this morning from a very cheerful bloke who said that the VIN is fine, told me to get it stamped on the chassis (and optional
plate) and now wants to come and check it over in the middle of next week! He's sending me the necessary forms and will book a time once
he's checked them over.
HIs aim is to get everything done so that I can just walk in after the SVA and get immediate registration.
EEK!
I thought I was starting down a long and tedious road towards approval, and I think I've started an avalanche!

That sounds a lot better than my VRO experience. Firstly I want to my nearest office, queued up for 30 minutes, then got told that I have to deal with
Maidstone office because of my postcode. So I phoned Maidstone, via Swansea, and was told I couldn't make up a VIN they would issue one. I sent
in my forms, waited a week, phoned back, via Swansea again, to be told they sent out the VIN 5 days ago and 'it must be lost in the post'!
I've now got my VIN and have applied for an SVA test but can't get the VIN inspected until after I have a MAC. At which point I again have
to phone Maidstone (via Swansea) and they make an appointment to inspect and register the car. Booking an appointment 'should take less than a
week'. So I know I'm going to end up with a finished car I can't use!

Well, the man's been (at 7:00 this morning!) and he's happy with the VIN stampings and the receipts...
...now for the MOT and SVA (once I've done the bonnet and a few other odd jobs).
Double EEK!
Down-side is that the registration may not be 'instant' - he's a one-man-band, and has to get his boss's signature, so it may
take a day or three. Still, all I have to present is money, MOT and SVA certs, and insurance. (NB: Although he says I need an MOT I disagree, but as
the car's going for a pre-SVA MOT anyway, why make waves?)
