Asking for trouble ?

I think that I might be asking for trouble and delays if I do this but I'm not even sure whether its an option.

I passed sva on Monday and now need to register the car. Here is my dilemma. My car resides in Bedford so the local dvla is in Northampton, but I live in Gloucestershire and work in Bristol where, not 500yrds away from work, there is a dvla office. Could I submit my registration forms in Bristol and have the car checked by northampton?

Or, have I gone mental?

Or get someone local to bedford to register it on your behalf?

Bite the bullet, ring Northampton DVLA and get an inspection date and time (preferably around or just after mid-day), arrange for a trailer for that day. On the morning load trailer, transport to Northampton, get it checked & paper work done. Return car, return trailer. Sit back & wait a week. enjoy new car on the road.

IIRC you have to register the car at the office closest to the address of the registered keeper. All matters are dealt with by the single office.

Yep its the closest one (I would have gone to northampton else rather than my local).

And of course you can't ring them anymore to add insult to injury you just get Swansea.

Thats it, IVA is the beginning of the end for registering kit cars. Sounds to me like its been engineered to be as difficult as possible deliberately.

Glad i bought now, rather than built, though i still have the chassis i made attached to the rafters of the Garage! - Maybe a track car at a later date..... hmmm.... NO, Stop, ive got "enough projects"!

I registered the mini at Northampton as it was nearest to where the car was. Registered owner lives in London but nothing was said.
Have to say they were excellent there and had new reg details 4 days after inspection.
