IVA summary?
Hi Guys
Does anyone know if any of the kitcar magazines/authors are to produce a summary of the IVA requirements. Might be a money spinner if someone was to
do this.

The magazines already have, though they are a bit brief.
To be honest the changes from SVA are fairly small and low impact for 7's, though with the price of the retests it's even more worthwhile
making sure everything is right first time.
You do know the IVA manual is available for free as a download from vosa so all the information you need is easy to get.

What we need rather than an article or the IVA manual is a simple list of things to look out for - there used to be something similar for SVA on the
Westfield World website.

have a look out for ckc as my car will be going through in the next month or so
i plan to take a note book with me and ask the tester for iva hints and tips for the mag.

p.s. one of the hardest things I am trying to work out is still the side repeaters as there is no allowance for the rear wings.

I think the link is fine just the connection to the page is very slow and if there are others connected at the same time it may time out.
The web server for my pages is in the same room as me and bandwidth is not fantastic.
I have also posted pictures of the fail sheets in my photo archive in the Roadster folder if that helps.

These are all minor things and I think you should feel pleased with yourself. When are you going for the retest? Very usefull for those of us who
will be going through it ourselves soon. Good luck

In a few weeks hopefully for the retest, getting there slowly, will do rear brakes weekend if weather permits.
I can add a few things that I think were not in SVA,!
Must have horn and must work
All lights must work including reverse.
Fog light must be e marked and either B or F marked (not on fail sheet but mentioned)
Must have sticker about brake fluid within 100 mm of master cylinder filler.
The 100 mm sphere comes from all angles
They are all in the manual but it is a lot to go through and understand some of the wording at times.
I missed the magazine articles so would like to see one.

the only mag article i recall seeing was an iva done on a cobra. i don't recall a 7 type car being done yet

Thanks for this Adrian. Useful info. I am very interested in the brake figures. I have mine going to an MOT centre shortly to have the brakes tested
but I don't know if they can perform all the tests required?
Guess I'll find out.
How was the experience overall? and how much paperwork do you have to take with you for them to check?

I went to Chadderton so do not know about other centres, but what I found initially annoying was the paperwork I sent off to Swansea did not make it
to the test centre for my test.
I took all my receipts with me, the Haynes book in case of any questions regarding plans and back axle weights, Insurance cert 'just in
case'. Old donor V5 etc. So take copies of all paperwork sent to Swansea and all supporting paperwork you can put together.
What I missed having with me was the build diary as it had lots of pictures.
I had to remove plastic caps from nuts to show threads through lock nuts, transmission top cover off to see welding of seat belt anchorages.
I really could have done with more feedback on general results, such as speedo error, it passed as it was all standard gear, but it would have been
nice to know how accurate. The exhaust passed at 96.7 dBA and passed many other things. But there is nothing to say what passed and at what
levels, like emissions, so if you don't write them down there is no knowing later if borderline or well in.
I guess in all the experience was not too bad. The letter of the manual is followed, I was given advice on a way forward to solve the fails, but I
found it harrowing all the same. But that may be just me.
There was a kit style wedding car going through IVA from a professional garage and that had fails as well, so it is not a case of them being picky to
amateur builds, just a case of if not correct it needs sorting.
The tester said he could give talks to car clubs on what to look for and I wish he would.

What paperwork did / do you have to send to Swansea before the test? How do I find this out in detail?

I had wanted to get together a database where people could put up their itemised fails and therefore we could work out what the more common fails were
and people could ensure that they cover these especially. It could even determine what were the most common failure points at each station... Dont
have the time to put something like that together im afraid... still think its a good idea though.

Noticed tonight in WHSmith while flicking through Complete Kit Car that they are publishing a 'KitCar Survival Pack' in WHSmith from 30th
Oct which includes information on IVA and registration.
Looks to be one of those super thick magazine/floppy cover books that costs about £8 and hangs around on the magazine stand for 3 months.
Worth a look on the shelves to see if it contains the kind of information you want.
