xflow engine number / age??
Hey up...
is there any 1 who can help?? PLEASE!!!
itz sva time... been a bit niave i assumed that the V5 would be sufficent evidence for the inspector of the age of the engine... it appers not.
i have a 1980 MK2 escort donor, 1st problem the V5 engine number dosent match the actual engine number, must have been changed in past years. i dont
have the engine number to hand, will get it tonite. is any one able to suggest where to get the age from, have tried ford but have to wirte a letter
and i dont think that i will have time to do that before the sva! is there any where on the internet? or proof that the xflow seased production in say
1981 to prove that it could not physical be post 1st april 1997???
cheers in advance!

Bob,
Been there done that too! The casting number says it is a later/better block (thats the 711 bit) and the size (someone will know for sure but it
don't matter coz you probably know the size).
THe number is stamped on a lug on the top of the block (where the head sits). Most of the time if the engine has ever been skimmed etc which is likely
even the thinnest skim will take this off.
Its time to get down to a scrappy, find an old engine/engine number from the right year, and stamp it on yourself.
As a matter of interest my 1660 XFlow has the stampings of a Triumph. IIRC their numbers point the engine to a mid 70's unit. The SVA man used
the sheet above and deduced it was mid 80's. Either way no cat test!
Hope this helps.

Cheers guys.
im going to use the original engine number and stamp that onto the top of the block, by the table that dick posted it makes the engine jan 1980 just
about pre april 1997 i think!! just hope the sva inspector accecepts it!!
bit of bad news tho... my aim was to drive to stonleigh, me not been on the ball i left it a bit late for a chassis inspection, which is the 6th may!
doh!! any way thats the least of my problems, got pass the SVA 1st!!!
take it easy guys
