i passed on the flat he asked me to operate it to see if it would move under its own power backwards ( i went literally a foot) then he asked me to
do it again to test the reverse light was working honestly dont worry
just put your battery on charge the day before to make sure its full of juice

if its battery time thats an issue could you put a bigger battery in for the test day?

Have a car battery for the reverse gear as the bike battery did not have enough puff. Bike battery still in for the engine and ease of removal of
reverse gear post test.

Good luck for Wednesday, Steve.
As I managed to get in for SVA I didn't need to demo my electric reverse (even though it was fitted) so don't know what the criteria is.
Sorry.
Why not give Byron a call to clarify?
I presume reversing light is not mandatory - even though you have some form of reverse.
Like yours, mine will only work on flat and doesn't like any form of incline.

It's not needed, but if you have one it has to work.

Lightning - IIRC aren't you running a ZX12 motor? Just wondering as I am too and was going to try avoid a 2nd battery if it's just
reversing a few feet on test day?

What motors do you guys use?
Why are they not able to shift a 500kg car?
I assume they're not car starters as I used to drive my Golf on the starter every time I ran out of petrol and was near a petrol station!
Cheers,
James

That's an urban myth according to the MOT testers who've posted. For MOT you don't need one and they don't test to see if it
works.
For IVA reversing lamps are now mandatory. See chapter 29 of the manual.

I think it's more to do with the battery it's being run from - my ZX12 battery is tiny.

A minimum of 330 cca would be advisable but the bigger the better.

yes but your golf's flywheel will be twice the diameter of the reverse gear making it easier to turn.

its ZZR1200
The motor is man enough and the battery but it would be better if the gear was larger diameter but there is not the space. The ring gear on the VW
engine is larger. Greater reduction giving more torque.

yes but your golf is 2x the weight plus is working against the engine compression.

But you're also before the transmission in the tintop so you've got another 4-5:1 reduction in 1st gear compared to a diff input flange
setup.
