Donor car V5c Document
Hi,
When completing my IVA test or the registration of the car, I need to prove that the donor car belonged to me and that how I accuired the engine was
above board.
But I could do with freeing up some space on my drive so I need to scrap/sell the donor. I would then loose the V5c registration certificate for my
sierra.
Obviously there is a way around this- but what is it?
Thanks in advance- Mark.

The 'trick' is to put the car on SORN with the DVLA then cut out all the identifying numbers and plates from the car. Get a scrap metal
dealer to take it away for cash or cut it up and take it to the tip.
Strictly you only need the V5c if you want an age related plate. If you don't mind/want a Q reg then a photocopy of the V5 as evidence that the
car was in your name at the time of scrapping is all you need and you can scrap the car.

I changed the V5 of my Sierra into my name, declared it SORN, cashed in the tax.
Then I removed the chassis plate from the front end, cut the numbers out of the sill, removed the number plates and kept them in an envelope, until it
was time to register the car.
Then got the local scrappy to take the shell away. He wasn't fussed about the lack of ID.......

Cheers guys.
I was thinking about trying to sell the car as it is- reason being the chassis solid for an old ford!
I thought a photocopy might be enough- I shall do that and see if i can sell the car.
Chances are its gonna get scrapped anyway
Thanks again- Mark.
