THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS LADS, SORRY I ENTERED MY MESSAGE TWICE BUT I HAVE ONLY JUST GOT ON THE NET AND I THOUGHT I WAS DOING WELL SWITCHING IT ON
BEEN DOWN TO DVLA IN SHEFFIELD TODAY TO REGISTER THE BEAST BUT AFTER WAITING INLINE FOR 90MINS
WAS TOLD THE GUY WHO DEALS WITH REGISTRATION WAS ON HOLIDAY UNTIL 1st JUNE SHE ASKED ME FOR MY MOT CERTIFICATE & INVOICES FOR MY CHASSIS AND
ENGINE AND OTHER MAJOR PARTS
I TOLD HER THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN FOR MOT BUT HE WOULD NOT ISSUE A CERTIFICATE DUE TO IT HAVING NO NUMBER PLATES AND I DID NOT NO THAT I NEEDED TO
SUPPLY IVOICES OR MOT(THOUGH THATS WHAT A SVA IS A INTENSE MOT?). I ASKED WHY .SHE DID NOT NO WHY BUT WOULD PASS ON THE DOCUMENTS I HAD GIVEN HER AND
SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME NEXT WEEK
QUESTION???
IF I ONLY WANT TO REGISTER IT ON A Q PLATE ,I HAVE NOT USED A DONOR , AND HAVE USED NEW,RECON OR SECOND HAND PARTS WHY DO THEY NEED TO SEE INVOICES
AND MOT CERTIFICTE.
SHE ALSO SAID IN MY CASE HE MAY HAVE TO LOOK AT MY CAR IS THIS NORMAL

The VRO inspect the car to check the chassis number is stamped on correctly. The fact that the SVA inspector does the same thing doesn't seem to
stop them! When you register the car you fill in a V55/5 and a build up report. The build up report tells them where the major parts for the car came
from. So if you put you brought your chassis from a kit car supplier they would want the receipt, if you say the engine was second hand from a breaker
then you might not need to show a receipt.
As far as an MOT goes, the MOT checks different things to the SVA so while the MOT test looks for play in wheel bearings the SVA would be more
interested in sharp edges. You need to either find another MOT station or go back and tell the one you went to to read his manual because it clearly
states that if no number plate is displayed then he should write that in the box. The VRO add the number to the certificate when they issue the
reg.
Good luck getting the car registered
Steve

Paul,
can't understand why she wanted all that information. When I did ours at Sheffield, they didn't ask for MOT certificate (which was just as
well, cos like you, the test centre wouldn't give us one) I offered to give them receipts, but when they saw the folder, the lad said not to
bother, if they wanted sight of any they would let me know. (They didn't). Two days later, registration details arrived through post.
The girl/woman you dealt with was probably covering all bases. I wouldn't worry if I were you. There's only one guy that deals with the
kits and when he's back, you'll have your reg details within a day or two.
Frustrating though, when its nice & sunny See you soon.

thanks for that steve & hellfire
I followed up the none issue of mot certificate this morning due to it having no number plates ,this was the only item it was failed on .found a
useful web site,www.motuk.co.uk contains copy of testers manual and you was spot on steve ,It states if a vehicle is not registered it does not
require number plates. Ive just got back on to mot center and explained this, and they have agreed with me and booked me in for a retest on
friday.result
Think I will just wait and see what happens regarding registration supose they will call me if they need any more information all in there good time
you cant rush these people
Still got a few jobs to do to turn it back into a car after sva .That ford steering wheels got to go!

The guy at Sheffield is called Paul Garrity.
Hes ok and when he gets the paperwork things should fall into place. He shouldnt need an MOT, in fact I rang him up and asked him what documents he
needed.
He rang me back the day after I dropped my docs in at Sheffield, he said that as per our conversation he would not normaly inspect the car since it
has just had an SVA but on this occasion would it be OK to see the car because he had a trainee with him and she hadnt seen many kits. They came the
next day and my reg was in the post the following day.
I think its just unfortunate that he is off for a couple of days but if my experiance of him is anything to go by youll be on the road next week.
Good Luck
Gordon
I'm sure I've got one, just don't know where I've put it
