Insurance Companies

hi, just bought my first locost after little persuasion from a friend.
i am picking it up tomorrow and trying to insure it, my friend said his insurance was about £150 a year for his 1600 and the one i have just bought the guy said it was 90 something (its a 1700) im 24 using it on limited mileage and getting quites in the region of £500 tpft exc commuting with 4000 limited miles. i have tried footman james and adrian flug so far. any help or reccomendations will greatly be appreciated

That doesn't sound right unless you live in an area renound for car crime... Then again they do penalise younger kit drivers so maybe that's it.

i have just done anotherone with out mentioning a little accident i had and it halved it, but i still dont beleive it should be that much

i had an accident a couple of months before i bought a clio 1.8 Rsi. by that time the accident hadn't cleared and my quotes were in £980-3.5K.

When the accident resolved, the insurance went down to £800

Have a look through the Insurance section of the forum.
Try...
MSM
Competition Car Insurance
Sureterm (can be good on the first year but renewals seems to double)
Frank Pickles is another one thats regularly mentioned.

sure term were cheapest for me. I was 26 with 6 points for speeding when i first did mine. i paid £240. without the points would have been £160 with 3000m limited.

With the mile limit aswell they dont ask you your mileage so whos to know if you go over it.

frank pickles, with accident and points, comes in at 191 with breakdown cover for me and the mrs at £191, i think thats whats called a bargain

You didn't mention the points in your original post Perhaps that explains the high quotes you got!! Still, 191 is a bargain. I'd bite both their hands off.
