donor plate
i am building an aries locoblade and would like to know if i could register it on an age related plate from the donor bike or will it have to be put
on a q plate.also if it does have to be a q plate is it possible to change it at a later date to a private non age related plate.all replies

not sure about the age related, you need a certain amount of donor parts from the vehicle to warrant that.
As for Q plate, once a Q, always a Q. So if it ends up on a Q plate, you can't have a personalised plate, and you can't even buy
different Q plates either

Nope, you would not have enough parts, the age related plate is usually generated from the donor car wher the steering transmission and brakes will be
taken from, I believe its base upon 3 major components unless IVA has changed this

The following values will be allocated to the major components used:
* chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
* suspension = 2 points
* axles = 2 points
* transmission = 2 points
* steering assembly = 2 points
* engine = 1 point

The points system is NOT for kit cars. This seems to be the longest running and biggest misunderstanding in the kitcar world (it doesn't help
that the DVLA often get it wrong too!) The points system allows you to keep the actual original registration and avoid IVA if you get sufficient
points, but required an original or identical new chassis.

so if i use the engine and gearbox from a honda fireblade motorbike and put it in my locoblade would that class as the 2 bits needed,and would i then
be able to have an age related plate
