Seems like an obvious one so

Point me to a thread as I can't find it with the search! When registering a car I presume it takes the emissions/tax of the donor engine. But with a bike that would be a bike. So I presume it goes off the size (pre2001) ie. under 1600 (unless you're a harley engined car!). But after 2001 do you have to know the emissions levels of the bike engine to judge what tax band you'll fall into? Sorry if it's been covered before, feel free to just quote thread URLs at me in disgust!

All kit cars (CEC or BEC) are taxed by engine size using the old system. There's no way you could work out the CO2 output of a Seven just using info from the donor vehicle.

Ooh interesting, didn't know that. So there's significant financial benefit to sticking <1600. Hmmm. BEC's make more and more sense.

The cost of a reverse system will take up at least the first 5 years of savings.
The insurance advantage that BEC's had is long gone.

I can make a reverse system from spares, that's no problem. Insurance advantage - these cars are fairly cheap anyway are they not? I mean my tintop latest quotes have been between 600 and 3000.

Just trying to lob everything into a spreadsheet to check costs!

Pedant. I like it. I see I'm not alone.
