Still no joy
Had another trip to Notts SVA center again today, and failled emmissions again.
This time HC around 100
Lambda hovering around 1
but CO too high...
So it seems that it is impossible to pass.
I have to admit defeat.... Oh well I've learned a lot.
Caution to all builders/potential builders.
Under no cicumstances tell the truth on your SVA application. Ensure your engine is pre 1995.
Also peak power on a bike engine is always 7500rpm if you want to pass dB level with ease.
May see you at Newark, I'll be in a BEB...!

Tough luck mate.
It must be possible to get it through, but looks like you need the ECU remapping to get it right.
Newark might be the best place to have a chat with people who can help.

Remapping
I reckon you're right Gordon.
Can imagine the look on the faces at TTS or Dynotek when asked to remap an SP1 to run sh!t and produce lots less power at 2800rpm...

have you considered an aftermarket rev limiter? my 'friendly' local mot man once bodged mine thru by not connecting the rev meter for the
not-so-fast idle! maybe if revs are limited to 2k it might pass...
either that, or a temporary transplant? how much pissing about would it be to stick a more common bike lump in? if it helps (which it probably wont) i
have a spare ninja engine lying about you can borrow...

Thankyou for your kind offer JoelP, much appreciated. I'm pretty limited for space in the back and wouldn't get an across the frame four
in there. However the idea of transplant occurred to me earlier, and I am so disallusioned by the SVA process that I will look into fitting an old
C50/70/90 engine. Trailer the car down and chug into the test center. NO EMISSIONS TEST REQUIRED...
Means a bit of paper juggling and not getting a new reg. but what the hell.
What do you reckon...

c50 would be a funny one. What about a lawnmower engine?! or even better, a hamster in a wheel. adds new meaning to 1 bHp.
seriously though, your best bet does seem to be with an old engine and Q plate. Bloody gutting if you were looking forward to an 04 plate. still, at
least you still get the last laugh.

Bl00dy right, go for it, shouldn't be too much work to make up a cradle to take an old bike engine of some dubious heritage, then take it back
out again and put the proper one back in.
I think it's what I would do in your position, and personally I do not care a toss about having a Q plate, in fact I rather like it as
it's a sort of unofficial "I built this"!!!

Thinking about it you will be better off with a Q plate anyway because in three years you would have to get it thru the MOT each year and it would
have to pass the current emissions test.
I'm sure I've got one, just don't know where I've put it

There is no emmissions test for Kit Cars at MOT. This is what I find so frustrating.
All Kit Cars, regardess of age, have visable smoke test only....!

Pity its not a Fireblade engine. I have a spare letter from Honda for a Feb 1995 engine sent to me with different engine number on it, which
wouldn't have to meet stricter emissions.
