Fuel Tank Support

After a great day in the workshop, i have emerged out the far side with my tank sorted!

How do i fit this into the car?
Can i use tabs welded to the four supports?
This way there would be no movement at all!

Or do i need it to be rubber mounted?

Many Thanks Again

Aaron

er, ok, well without knowing what it looks like, and what you've made, its difficult to answer!

what 4 supports do you mean? is it 4 supports on the tank? or on the chassis? what chassis is it? too many unknowns

rubber mounted it best i think. thats how i'm doing mine anyways. metal bracket underneath, lined with rubber, and the same on top, metal bracket lined with rubber

I have one but its stuck on my phone!
its the standard "book" tank but i was thinking of using lugs
on the tank that i can use to screw the tank to the chasis on 4 solid points!

I've got a feeling there is something that says you can't do that? I'll see if I can find it.....

No, the only reference about mounting in the manual says

"7. A Fuel Tank must not be fouled by moving parts of the vehicle, or mounted so that it is likely to be subject to abrasion by adjacent parts."

But most people mount them as done in Ianclarke1275's photo - not with lugs.

Mine...

That is one cracking looking Locost! Imaginative and a bit different - nice bold paintjob too!

Interesting take on the lockwiring the Bias bar, too! Not sure what they'll make of it?

Fuel Tank Straps

Using Straps is better because they spread forces during an accident over a larger area so chances of Fuel Tank Failure are diminished.
