MOT certificate error
just been sorting through my paper work and discovered that when my mk indy was mot'd they screwed up the odometer reading
actual reading was 1452.1 miles and they have put 14521 miles  just checked on vosa website and confirmed that the wrong reading is logged in
there computer system,question is what the hell do i do now? there is nowhere to deal with this on there website and having problems talking to anyone
on the phone,dose anyone have the phone number for my local vosa office/where to get it from?(worthing west sussex)
anyone ever had the same problem?,got a feeling its going to be a nightmare to sort out

Happened to me too, seems like the tester didn't spot the decimal point in the digital display. I wasn't worried and did nothing about
it. The following year the same MOT centre got it right.
I'm a bilingual illiterate. I can't read in two languages.

You either start a lengthy process which Swansea (Good Luck!) or you strike a match, light a hamlet (who remembers those adverts, especially the
Carlos Fandango extra wide wheels and the farm gate... CLASSIC) and tell the bloke you sell it to the story ........
.....about how you nearly wasted a shed load of time calling into Swansea, but didn't as you realised that anyone who was buying this type of
vehicle, would understand the mistake, if explained to them.

I'm not sure that it's going to matter and it should be rectified the next time you MOT. Presumably if you had changed your speedo the
mileage would show as zero si what do they do then ? . I suppose there might be implications if you had an accident and your insurance is limited
mileage but even then if the insurance company checked the car they would see the correct milage on the odometer.
I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

Quite common often they note down the the "miles to next service" it has no effect on the validity of the MOT it will be quite
obvious anybody looking at the MOT what has went wrong.

if you sell or trade in the car, it will flag as a mileage discrepency on the National Mileage Register, although its blatantly obvious what happened,
i lost the sale of a car for a very similar mistake

As said, its Swansea that you need. You do need to get it sorted otherwise the car will look clocked, and many people would walk away from what
appears to be a clocked car.

Get VOSA involved!! DVLA in swansea wil not be able to help you! Mind you I am waiting for the resident know it all to come along and quote the
relevant paragraphs.

It won't looked clocked mileage dosen't jump by 100,000 odd mile in a year then jump back down again the folowing year. All that is
required is to keep the certificates.

But will they be able to put the correct mileage in the system next time round or will it flag up?

hi mate why dont you take the mot to the mot station explain what has happened and ask for a duplicate with the correct miles to be put on a new
certificate

They wont change anything, they will just record the correct mileage on the new certificate. It wont flag anything up as they (moters) dont have
access to the database. And the DVLA database wont care as its only when someone enquires into it that they the discpreancy will flag up. But theres
nothing they will do. They may assume that tbe dials have been replaced or that the mileometer has done a complete cycle (common on old ford tachos
with only 5 digits)

mot station in st albans & im in worthing,west sussex but i will phone them on monday.

what you need to do is phone the place who tested the car give them the mot test number and correct mileage and they will get the area vosa office to
amend the database then your test station will give you the new documents off their own system

I wouldnt worry, as 1452.1 miles means your still running in, yet 14521, means you have, and its thrashing time
