Tax disks
Got some lovely 04 plates and tax disk today, but I have one final dilemma...
Read on the forum a while back about where to fix the tax disk. Dont really want to stick it to the screen for fear of it being nicked also being
'sucked' out the car
What have you chaps done with yours.

I'm not there yet, but I plan to use a Motorbike holder fastened to the dash, one of the waterproof allen screw types looks favorite
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

We got a Richmond machined Aluminium one from H******s fastened it between the seats on the rear bulkhead, using the Countersunk Allen Headed bolts
used to fasten the disc in. Looks alright...

Thanks fellas,
I'd seen some on dashes and does look good, what about the legal side of things.
"bottom left hand corner of front screen etc. etc."
Not that I'm too bothered but cops have had tax disk cameras out a few times round here recently and I can do without any undue attention, the
car is 'kin loud

do the cameras read the tax disc or do they just check the reg no. against dvla records?

Thats a very good question. They always set up 2 cameras. I assumed one checked the reg. and the other looked for a disk. But thinking about it, that
seems unlikely really. prolly just check DVLA records...

Two lanes of traffic require two cameras
One of the heads sends infra red to enable the plate to "light up" so the scameras OCR software can read it better still gives errors
though. Cross checked with the computer named HAL and your house bulldozed if you aint paid.........mmmm (last bit happens if you live in gaza)

I looked into this myself as I have no windscreen, just an aeroscreen. As it turns out under the
The Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002 there is no legal place to
display a tax disc on my car !
(d) in the case of any other vehicle -
(i) if the vehicle is fitted with a driver's cab containing a near side window, on that window; or
(ii) on the near side of the vehicle in front of the driver's seat and not less than 760 mm and not more than 1.8 metres above the surface of
the road.
(5) In each case referred to in paragraph (4), the licence shall be so exhibited that all the particulars on the licence are clearly visible in
daylight from the near side of the road.

I'll put mine on the dash as it will neatly cover a flaw on the carbon fibre!!
