Post IVA - the wait is killing me !!!
So, i passed my IVA last wednesday morning, rushed around to get insurance and found myself in the Northampton branch of DLVA that afternoon.
Forms filled, money taken and i was expecting them to tell me my new registration number there and then. But no, this is now a 'back office
task', so i leave with them holding onto my drivers license (which was proof of ID), a huge pile of receipts, my IVA pass and all my forms. The
nice lady told me to expect them all back along with my V5 in a couple of days in the post.
That was last wednesday and the wait is killing me - anyone had a similar experience of how long this process takes ?. They never mentioned anything
about re-inspecting the car (as per current new practice), and the lady was happy with my application of a new registration.
Cheers

I don't think you can do any harm by calling them and politely asking if they have done it yet.

If you expected to get a reg' number there and then, you were being optomistic. A few have walked out with one the same day but they're in
a minority. A week or two is more normal. You'll recieve all your ducuments back (except the IVApass), an authorisation to get plates made and a
tax disc. The V5 might arrive about a month later (from Swansea)... and it'll probably be incorrect in some way!
I had my application in before I passed my retest and the inspection done so it was just pending a MAC cert'. Passed SVA Tue, dropped off cert
Wed AM - got phone call Friday PM, "Do you want your tax dating today (30th) or should we do it for Sunday (1st). I went for Sun and I still
don't know how I restrained myself.

Yep Northampton take about a week for 'The Package' to come back to you. did with mine but now it might just depend on Royal Snail Mail.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

worth a phone call. With mine they couldn't work out whether I was eligible for an age related plate (I wasn't) so instead of registering
it they sat on it for a couple of weeks before writing to me.
I found it difficult to get their number though, as I had to go via some central system.
