If I have no car insurance do I need to SORN?
I drive a Golf GTI and my girlfriend can't get insured on it. She is job hunting and needed a car to get a a batch of interviews she is
currently intending. I bought a little Ibiza and transfered my insurance to that and added her. My Golf has been sitting on the driveway not moving
for 3 weeks and someone said I need to SORN it by law. It is taxed but not insured. Hopefully she will get a job and we can run both cars. If she
doesn't I am going to sell it.
Do I need to SORN a taxed but not insured car?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I think it needs to be insured now. SORN is only if you have no tax.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

you should be able to get it added to your policy for upto 1 month (both cars on the same policy)
I did this the last time I changed my car so that I could drive the old one to its new home (i.e. mango's garage)
I only had it added third part for a few days so it only cost about £10 including all the admin fees
only issue I can see with this now is they might not put it on the Motor Insurance Database (tehy don't always for a temp. policy) - and this is
what they use to send out the letters....

Cheers mate - just actually found the link myself
What a bummer! These uninsured drivers ruin things for everyone.

If you still have some months left on the tax you can get money back for each full month remaining.
Worth claiming for it since you have to SORN it anyway.
check out the DVLA website for details

No worries, if it was me and it was staying put and not being used, i'd claim any tax back thats left on it and SORN it.
