Will i get away with a age related plate?
I've never done an IVA before but from what i have read i might not get away with an age related plate.
So here goes, this is what im doing.
Westy Kit
Brakes, Hubs, Diff, Drive shafts & Prop from donor car
Cossie Engine which is obviously not from the donor
T5 Box (which i dont have yet but/or i can use my DOHC 2wd box just for the IVA)
Can i be checky and advise DVLA of the change of the engine code before i IVA the car? DOHC to YB Cosworth........... mmmmmmmm...........thats not
going to work is it without getting stung on insurance?

Just to be clear - the IVA is conducted by VOSA. They will test whatever is presented. you have to p[rove engine age and that will determine the
emission levels.
Once you have successfully passed the IVA you have to deal with DVLA in order to register your vehicle. They will allocate a reg number depending on
the source of various components.
You will need to complete one of
these . Providing
you have 2 of the major components (and you do (axles, steering and suspension) you should get an "age related" plate
You will usually need build photos for VOSA to prove it is an amateur build and receipts or other documents to confirm the sourse of your components
for DVLA (ostensibly to ensure they aren't nicked)

Sweet! I thought you had to produce all of that type of stuff at the IVA test. Thanks for that!

But you need a V5 for the donor. I had proof of all components from a single donor that I had owned, but stupidly I sold off the shell with its V5, so
despite all the proof in the world I could not persuade Nottingham DVLA to issue anything but a Q.

I have V5 for the donor. So how do i prove the age of the engine? That not going to be easy!

Engine age is pretty simple, if you look at Burton Power they have a complete list of engine ages, ( Ford only of course), just need the reference
from your engine number. HTH Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

Its very easy with a ford if it has an engine number.
You send a nice letter to ford saying you are building a kit with one of there lumps and you need proof of the engine age and they will send a nice
letter back with the month and year your engine was made all foc
Only works if you have the engine number.
This is the address.
