Didn't the new reg come out 8 days ago?
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

If you cant drive it until Feb,
IVA it, register it, and then SORN it.
It will only matter (and only a small amount) if you want a new 12/62 reg.
Just my 2d's worth.

Won't you be on a Q plate?
If not, you and I need to talk since mine is being IVA'd soon and I wouldn't mind a new 12 reg on mine.
Let me know.

i cant drive the car till the new reg comes out so i cant see the point in having it road legal , when i do finally get to drive it it will already be
6 months old. cant see why it would be on a Q-plate unless you know something Ive missed.

I'm no expert here - ive yet to IVA and register my car, so need some other people who have been through this process to chip in.
I was under the impression that if you could prove the registration of the donor car you could take forward the registration from this car, if you
can't you get a Q plate and not a "year plate"
However, what if you have bought all new parts for your car - doesn't this entitle you to a year plate?
I know there is a section on the IVA application form where you can provide receipts - does this have anything to do with the application of a
"year plate"?
Can someone clear this up for us please?

1) If you can prove enough components from one donor and you have the v5c, you will get its reg.
2) If you use brand new parts and provide evidence, then you will receive a new year plate.
3) If you cannot identify the source of parts, then you will receive a Q plate but the DVLA try to avoid issuing a Q plate if they can

Does a recon part constitute a new part? If not, what did you do about the steering column and rear diff?

The column was made at mk engineering and the diff is a new fiesta unit in a housing also made by martin

I think you're allowed 6mths between passing IVA and applying for registration.
What plate you get is down to DVLA and nothing to do with the IVA (VOSA).
You can get a new plate provided all major components are new (with reciepts) with the exception of one component which must be "reconditioned
as new" with proof.
You get an age related plate if you have enough components from one donor car and the v5 from that car. Age related plates are the same year
designation as the donor, not the same reg' as the donor.
If you don't meet one of the above you get a Q.
