The last time I went to Barbon they were wearing leather helmets, goggles, wellies and flying jackets.

You really need the 2013 Bluebook, but here is yet another PDF, everything you need to know in that book, you will get one when you apply for your
licence.

For Hills & Sprints:-
1;race suit Look for FIA 1986 or FIA 8856-2000
2;race boots No requirement for them to be fireproof, karting boots worn by lots of people - but lots wear nomex,
3;race gloves - Nomex clearly marked, ISO 6940, FIA something..
4;race helmet - FIA 8858-2010, Snell 2005 or Snell 2010 the most common, others too.
No requirement for nomex underwear, some do, some don't
for track days:-
Anything you like, normally just 'covered arms and legs' and a 'helmet'.. but it's not a good idea really - if
you've got the safety kit, use it.
To save you loads and loads of time
The easiest, cost effective, solution would be to ring up/visit Plays-kool motorsport and they'll sort you out with the lot without giving you
a coronary..
But ebay is actually a good source of secondhand racesuits, as the triple layer nomex ones last very well and can be good buys, several on there at
the minute too.
