SVA for non-UK Locost
Does anyone know if I can take my Locost from Norway to get it SVA approved? I can't get it approved in Norway, but new laws say that a car
approved in any EU country is automatically approved in Norway. Then, if I get it SVA in UK, it's approved in Norway.
Is it legal with hydraulic handbrake?
Is it any maximum hp a Locost can have to get SVA?

Dont think Hydraulic Handbrake will pass, remember someone saying that it wont pass a MOT, not 100% if thats SVA too.
No maximum that i've heard of, only emisions you have to watch

handbrake
You need a "Mechnical" form of handbrake.Hydrolics (In my expreance)aren't accepted.Horsepower is unlimited.But if the sva inspector
thinks its to much for the brakes or chassis.....
..Which was nice..

It'll have a XE with 250-280hp and AP Racing brakes, ventilated 280mm in front and unventilated 260 rear. Does everything I need for SVA says in
the book or is there other things I should have in mind? Do they dyno test the car or do they trust me if I come with my own dyno sheet?

They are not interested in dyno readings - their main interest is in safety and emissions. In other words, has it been put together properly, is it
safe for occupiers and pedestrians, and does it meet the emmision regulations.
The only time power output would be considered would be if too powerful an engine had been put into a flimsy chassis - not a problem for you, as
Locosts have been built with 400+bhp without problems (e.g. hicost's cosworth beast).

So if I build it proporly together with good safety, all the right lightnings and everything it should pass without problems?
How much does a SVA test cost? Is there any list I can look at that need to be correct on the car to get it SVA-approved? It's kind of boring to
go from Norway to UK to fail a SVA-test. You can never be 100% sure, but I'd like to be 100% prepared anyway.

It would probably be better and cheaper to get one of the specialist companies to put your car through the SVA - I'm sure that someone on this
forum can recommend a good one.
They take your car, do anything necessary to bring it up to standard*, then SVA it. If it fails they can fix it and take it back. The majority fail
first time!

if you fail, you should be able to get a retest within a week. Standard fee is in the region of 160gbp.

It would be easiest for me to get it SVA'd in near of Newcastle since a ferry has a route from Norway-Newcastle. Anyone know of any company like
David mention?
