Age related plate
Hello,
i have been in contact with DVLA to change my first registration date on the V5 of the car i am importing in Belgium.
So to be clear and have your advices :
the car is age related plate with a G plate ( G XXX YYY where x is a number and Y a letter , so 1989 or 1990 if i am right).
But the V5 first registration date is 2003.
i think that this is the moment when the donor became a kit car.
I asked DVLA to change first registration date on the v5 in order to mention the first registration date of the donor ( 1989-1990).
The kit car is a Tiger and has : all brakes, engine , gearbox , complete rear beam assembly and steering column of the donor.
I have spent one hour last week on the phone with them , and they were not able to tell if they wanted a DVLA inspection or a Vosa inspection. (
remember i am calling from belgium
Today , i received a phone call and they said that they will not change the date on the V5 because it was right this way.
I remember that i had a Robin hood a few years ago , registered the same way and the date of first registration was 1896 in that case ( the donor
became a kit car in 2004)
So could you please let me know if i am right and need to fight with them to have the first regitration date changed, or if i am wrong and i will
leave like it is.
Thanks in advance,
Gerardo

The part of our registration process related to registration number is a simple 3 option process
Car built from a pile of unrelated bits Q xxx yyy registration plate
Car built from single donor registration from same year as donor
Car built from new bits registration year will match year of IVA test pass and registration plate i.e. yy13yyy
In all cases above the date of first registration is usualy the year the kit car was built and passed IVA
I eat to survive
I drink to forget
I breath to pi55 my ex wife off (and now my ex partner)

The DVLA are correct - the date of first registration has nothing to do with the donor except that you can get an age related plate.
You will have no chance of getting this changed. Mine's an 'H' reg which should be 1990/91, but it was 1st registered in 2006 when
it passed the SVA after completing the build.

My V5C shows
"Note B Date of first registration" same as that of the donor vehicle and
"Note [B1] Date of first registration in the UK" is the date when the kit was registered.
Age related plate

Age related plate
This is a mistake commonly made by DVLA, but is not correct.

Surely someone can sell him a 1989 V5 for a Dutton ?
I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.
