IVA and rear light clusters

I've been working on the rear lights today and I was wondering if anyone has any direct experience of what the IVA inspectors are actually accepting in terms of rear light clusters...

I am aware of the height from the ground, minimum separations, the angles of visibility and requirement for E markings and I meet all of those. I also know that the fog and reverse lights have to be vertical.

However, I am using rectangular clusters with stop, tail and indicators in the same unit. Slightly difficult to explain, but when I mount these on the rear wings they are not parallel with the back of the car. (or, if you prefer, they are not parallel with a line a right angles to the transmission tunnel). The deviation is 15 degrees forward (i.e. the indicator part of the cluster is a little further forward that the stop/tail light part) due to the shape of the wings.

I cannot find anything in the IVA manual that says that this is unacceptable, but has anyone presented a car for IVA with the lights set up like this?

Not an issue.

Lots of kits have passed with the lights mounted on the wings and pointing slightly up due to the wing angle. The only one that matters is the fog due to it's narrow beam pattern.

I guess that its the other dimension that I'm concerned about. I have trimmed the rubber mount so that the face of the cluster is approximately vertical, its the fact that the profile of the wings also slope forward a bit (i.e towards the front of the car) from where they join the rear tub to their outside edges at the same height off the ground. I.e, the lights point out a bit, not up a bit

This would have been a lot easier with a picture, but its raining and there is no space at the back of the garage!

As long as it meets the angles of visability and apparent surface rules they'll pass. To fail that they'd have to be at a hell of an angle (pointing sideways).

Plenty of cars point outward, some Tigers point slightly inward, lots of Fury's do the same.

Its also worth noting that only the fog has to E marked (with F or B mark also), all other lights have to omit a light comparable to an E marked item. Reverse doesn't have to be perfectly vertical either.

How many degrees leeway around 90 degrees do they give with the fog light? With ride heights etc I imagine it could be out be a few degrees.

The manual just says "squarely to the rear" whatever that means. I guess that because it does not say 90 degrees, they will allow some reasonable deviation.
