setting headlight alignment

Working through finishing jobs for iva. Have had a read of the iva manual and the process makes no sense to me! Can anyone tell me how I can setup my headlights at home?

Cheers
Dave

I am planning a visit to my local mot station to set the brakes, headlamps, tracking and test emissions prior to the IVA.

Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

Park on a very level surface facing a wall or vertical board. Measure the distance from the headlamp lens to the wall (eg 5m) and work out 1.5% of this (eg 75mm) (or whatever beam angle you are aiming for). Measure the height of the lamp centre, or better still put a piece of paper on the lamp and see where the beam cutoff is (eg 500mm). Make a mark on the wall at this height, minus the figure you calculated earlier (eg 425mm).

If you adjust the beams vertically so that the horizontal cutoff is at your mark, you will have -1.5% inclination. Horizontally, the lamp's 'kickup' should be straight ahead of the lamp.

Thanks Matt

That's great - makes more sense now.

Cheers
