DVLA Build Up Vehicle Inspection Report
This is form V627/1. You are required to detail exactly where all your main components were sourced.
This is not too much of a prob if a single donor was used. However, some of us are using Cortina front hubs & uprights, i.e. clearly not from the
original donor.
The form asks for details of front & rear suspension. So how have other builders, who have successfully registered their cars, defined their front
suspensions?
The wishbones will be new, or newly fabricated, but the uprights ain't. Do you state that it will be a mixture of old & new?
What's the best approach? Advice please.

My car was a complete hybrid also so I pushed my luck and just said everything was new! (it all looked new) Filled in the form for a new vehicle and
got new plates for my trouble

I quoted the front suspension as of own manufacture , the engine , gearbox , propshaft , rear axle and steering alledgedly came from a single donor .I
therefore ended up with an age related plate.
I think that engine gearbox and rear axle is enough to get an age related plate, as there should be a minimum of 2 major components.

Just filled mine in tonight!! I put FORD against eveything, but did not specify WHICH Ford!! Put the reg against the origin on the sierra bits and
Breakers against the others.
In reality I have bits from 4 Fords, 2 Nissans, 4 VW's, 1 Honda, 2 Westfields, 1 Peugeot, 2 Rovers, 1 Kia, 3 Fiats, 1 Alfa, 1 Landrover.......
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Will be VERY interested to see how the DVLA inspector reacts to your info. Please keep us posted on progress.

Just wondering... why not just tell the plain truth? I listed what I'd used, had receipts for some of them, and Mr DVLA was happy enough.
I ended up with a Q plate, but that didn't bother me in the slightest.

David

Yup - already considered this strategy. Have even filled out the form with the details.
What niggles, (slightly), is the mixed nature of the "front suspension". To illustrate :-
Hub: Cortina, scrapper sourced,
Upright: ditto,
Balljoints: New, motor factors,
Wishbones: New, MK (& yes, I have seen THAT discussion),
Spring/Damper units: New, GTS.
So a significant proportion of the front suspension assembly will be totally brand new.
Seems that this form doesn't provide sufficient space to provide accurate info. So I may well adapt your suggestion, David, and expand the
detail accordingly.
Your feedback still much apreciated.
