Will it ever pass the IVA :(
Well today was the day of my IVA retest, the tester Andy was going through the fail sheet rapidly ticking them off as he went, then it came to the
noise test which at 8250rpm it came out at 100.2 db this is with hiring Mk's silencer and having sound deadening in the engine bay, so god knows
what else I'm going to have to do to loose 1 db
Next was emissions after getting the cat nice and hot and having it on a rolling road only last week I was quietly confident, well it failed on lambda
again my 06 R1 is showing 1.053, so again using the hired exhaust and with a bigger cat and I'm only just out
I'm gutted but two good things I got to drive it again and it stayed dry so not all bad

Hard luck.
Getting the emmisions right is a balancing act and usually needs fine tuning on the day. Did you play with the p/commander settings at the test?

As above, i had to tweak mine on the day with my laptop. ( i also have an 06 R1 engine)
i got a pass result for fast idle, but then it was over with low idle, so had to tweak it again to pass that. it wouldnt then idle properly, so i had
to tweak it again once done. i was sweating, and fingers furiously clicking on the keyboard adjusting it, as the emisions test had a countdown timer
on it for the test duration

If you make up something like this and hide it in the exhaust, this bit mostly from Car Builders + a bit of weldin does the job. It gained me at lest
3db in noise terms that is a lot.

Hi
Our R1 is the 2001 carbed version , this was our set up . an American cat, a std bike can
with a db killer elbow & trim , this gave 97Db .which passed ok.
IVA exhaust with cat
We reversed the R1 airbox ( had to modify it) sound deadening the engine bay was a waste of time as he did the noise test with the bonnet removed,
induction noise is the biggest problem next to exhaust.
Air box reversed
like you failed on lambda on our first iva
Took it to Austec racing who detuned it as much as they could & it was still borderline on lambda
I then had an idea to put a stop valve on the AIS air intake pipe.
During the test I turned it down gradually & finally off , done the job & passed.
AIS Shut off valve
You are welcome to borrow if you want
we are not a million miles away
Give me a utu with your no if you want to discuss it

Hi there, many thanks for your offer, however as a last resort i did blank it off and asked for another try but it through out my hc so it was still a
fail
Unfortunately I don't really know what I'm doing with the power commander to me it's just numbers lol
