Current IVA waiting period
2 questions:
1. I reckon I'm 8-10 weeks away from finishing. How early should I think about submitting IVA paperwork.
2. I'm based in Germany (Brit army) so would probably want to use one of the outfits where I can drop the car off, they do a pre IVA
inspection, sort out any issues, then take it through IVA for me. Any particular reccomendations? Location not being too important to me.

Submit it now. You book the test at your own convenience anyway.

You could try GBS (Great British Sports Cars), they have a service where they do all the paperwork, pre test inspection, and you get the car back
registered. Bit pricey that's why I decided to put through IVA myself, but if your wanting a complete service, you give them the car and get it
back registered.

How pricey if you don't mind me asking? I'd rather do as much as possible myself to keep costs down but a first time pass is unlikely and
I'm not doing a 1000 mile road trip for a retest ;-)

to be honest your best to ring them and talk through what you want. They can do just the iva or complete registration. Obviously they make money doing
so, so you will pay for their time. Also the pre IVA inspection was quoted about 6 hours of their labour, also they charge 4 hours labour for the test
as they have to go with the car and wait, then the admin side, so it clearly isn't going to be a cheap option. So basically labour to check and
test, time for paperwork and admin, IVA test fee, registration fee, tax and insurance all need paying. As I say, it might have changed since I
enquired last year. If I get a chance later I will dig out the e-mail they sent me and I will u2u the costings.
Cheers
Andy
