IVA/SVA
Hi All
I am new to this but recon there is a plethora of knowledge on this site that could help me with the following query...
I have purchased an ex 750mc racing Locost built to the book standard with a 1300cc escort donor vehicle. Clearly this vehicle has been built to
road going standards with the plastic bolt radius covers and trims and all the bits I would have expected. I have taken the vehicle to my local MOT
tester so I could check it over on the ramp and he has stated that the vehicle would pass an MOT without any problems.
The question is this, since I never built the car and have no build history can I still get the vehicle registered through the SVA come IVA which
ever it is called now?
If this is the case my second question is...
Does any one know a firm that can inspect the car ideally around the south coast (at a cost) that I could take it to for an opinion come
recommendations for getting it past the test. I am more than capable of doing the work having messed around with old bangers most my life, but this
IVA/SVA thing seems very confusing with little info on the net.
Overall I am not worried about the plate I would get and any advice you guys and girls can offer will be gratefully received.
With thanks
Jim

All the info is easy to find in one place
See the link below, and download the manual for free from the goverment website. Iva test for M1 cars is what you want
Iva is supposed to be for self built cars, and you didntbuild it yourself, so could you take a few days to strip it down carefully noting everything,
cleaning, painting, and replacing bearings and stuff, then take plenty of photos as you put it back together?
Does the guy you bought it from have any pics from when he build it?
A few friens with acomputer and printer and some imagination could *ahem* sort out any missing receipts for steel and donor car...

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

The test is essentially about sharp edges, brakes and emissions
Noise, self centring ,seat belt mounts strength and position and position of lights
Nothing to difficult and if you fail the test you get a list of things to address and the retest is much cheaper
I eat to survive
I drink to forget
I breath to pi55 my ex wife off (and now my ex partner)

them for advice. Should be a good starting point? With in moments of placing my post I am getting help and can't believe I never found this
forum earlier.
