IVA PASS (Finally)
The car has finally passed the IVA (Third times a charm), now begins the fun of going through the DVLA, i was wondering if there is anyway of proving
the year of an cross-flow engine as i didn't have to go through an emissions test as we said 1971 and when i bought it the seller said it was
from a Mexico, is there anyway of telling the year to prove to DVLA that this is the year of the engine.

Serial number on top of block has a date code. Its on one of the lips that poke out under the head. You should be able to Google a look up table or
I'll post a link when home.

well done
for ford engine and chassis code go to:
http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/ford-manufacture-dates.html
also I think a lot of IVA testers just know the codes
and if its already been tested I don't think you need to prove again to dvla
is the car going for q reg?

I believe it will be going for a Q plate and DVLA said they need to prove it as it didn't have a emissions test and they want to prove it as it
relates to the Taxing of the vehicle

Nice one!
I thought DVLA take the emmisions as being the same as on the IVA cert and put that on the v5. Don't think there's anything on the v55
forms for engine age. However it only matters in the case of age related and new plates; In the case of a Q plate the MOT reg's say test visable
for smoke only.

it might matter for tax, but since the vehicles co2/km emissions are not known, it will be taxed on engine
size.
https://www.gov.uk/calculate-vehicle-tax-rates quote: For cars registered before 1 March 2001 the rate of vehicle tax depends on its engine size. The
rate for cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 depends on CO2 emissions and fuel type. They’ll be taxed using the old system if this information
isn’t available.

Well done and congratulations!
I added a very politely worded letter with my application and received my V5 back within 10 working days.
Don't worry, we still have plenty of sun left before winter.

Thank you everyone for you help i am hoping to use the certificate and a letter as enough evidence for it not having an emissions test, just two more
slight questions, i noticed on the v55/4 guidance it mentions a certificate of conformity what is that and when speaking to dvla they mentioned a hmrc
nova site what would i need to use this for, thanks again everyone.

I think the certificate is the iva certificate, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP A COPY
re nova
there was a thread on this a while ago, and its really down to speaking with the right people at dvla. (probably K&R )

edit to add:
where did you get the vin from ?
I suspect non dvla/K&R vins trigger the hmrc nova question.
