I'm probs not the best person to answer this as I always bolt my harnesses to brackets, but TTBOMK the requirement for IVA is that they be
secure to withstand likely forces exerted on them, hence, provided the cross support is substantial & not likely to easily bend (ie long
unsupported section) then I would have thought it would be fine. I would have a close read of the seat belt section of the IVA manual - if still in
any doubt then contact the boys at VOSA, they are usually very helpful
