diffs n bitz

what are the chances of using a cortina diff, bur using the orginal dimensions from the book, keeping it the same no wider?, ive see photos of locosts and there seems to be a biggish gap betwwen the wheels and arches, my chassis is nearly done, so theres no chance of making it wider!, any ideas i see a few people have used cortina diffs, but they have a wider chassis tho,, cheers

Hi,
I presume you want to use a cortina diff because that's what you have.
I have an escort diff and want to make my chassis +4" wide so will be looking for a cortina axle.
Would you be interested in a swap?

i havent either diff yet! jusr been looking at every 1 elses, i dont like the gap between the wheel and the arches, ive been told to use a cortina diff as its wider, but my chassis is based on the escort, thought there might be a chance of using the cortina diff without making chances to the chassis width, doesnt look like thats poss, ohwell cheers for help guys

Diff or Axle?

Cortina diff? i think you might have the wrong end of the stick, you can't put a cortina diff into an escort axle, but there is nothing to stop you using the cortina axle, its the whole axle that will give you extra width..or if you just want to use this axle to fill out the arches you could allways do that with the offset of the wheels.
hope this helps

Yes mate, but a Crapi axle is slightly narrower than a Cortina, but wider than an Escort.

Anyone know if the cortina axle is wider would this be the best one to use when building a car for the race series ?

And is it legal to use this axle ?

Thanks

Jez

In order of width (narrowest first) Escort, Crapi, Cortina 3,4,5.
Would of thought that you will have to use a standard Escort casing for race series, but dont know for sure.
