Nice day out in Exeter!

SVA at 8:00am this morning, took 3 hours, and passed first time. I didn't get picked up on anything which was a nice surprise.

Got down to Exeter DVLA by 11:30 and registered and taxed by 1:00 with an age related plate, plates ordered by phone and picked up on the way home (110 miles!), Adrian Flux sorted, plates fitted and on the road. Phew!

At the risk of sounding like an oscar winner, special thanks to:-

Ian (robinbastd) for being the support vehicle, verbal vallium etc

Barrie and Hilary Sharp for putting us up overnight and going over the car, beautiful cooking and hospitality

Terry, the SVA examiner, a really nice chap, reassuring, helpful, and makes a really nice cup of tea. Rescued attachment Finished SVAd.jpg

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Hi Mark.
Very well done. I'm not surprised you passed first time, an excellent build.
Thanks - I got my harnesses from Sabelt OK - unlike yours, the top fitting isn't direct into the shoulder straps, but seperate with a long strap which I've had to pull right up and roll up, just like the unsuitable ones Rally Design sent. BUT - as I requested, the shoulder straps are shortened for kitcars with top mounts behind the seats, and the harnesses fit a treat.
BTW, I had a look at your photo archive with the build pics, and reckon you've done a top job.

Mark,
Stop being so bloody modest. The examiner told you that he'd never passed a kit car (let alone a scratch built car) without something needing doing to it during the test.
The car full of tools, rubber trim, roll bar padding and spare underwear was unnecessary.
It was nice to discover that SVA testers aren't demonspawn after all!

I'm delighted for you mate and I hope you get to enjoy the car to the full driving to and fro Carnal Downs now you have the time to teach me to weld! All I have to do is find the time to learn.

Ian

Excellent !

Well done - great feeling isn't it, but driving it will be even better !

Enjoy it but like others say, take it easy at first, my car caught me out a few times in the first few weeks - scary.

here's to a good summer

Is that the little B road that runs along the coast south from St Ives down to Cape Cornwall (ish) past the Tim Mines about half way up the Cliff side.. Its a great run in a Land Rover as well.. I usually try to do that on a sunny day as the sun is going down over the sea at about 7-8pm... Such fantastic views.. at that time of the day.. Grrr making me feel jealous already!.

Go and Enjoy.. You have earned it..
