vin numbers & the DVLA Worcester
I have cleared up the grey area with using your own chasis number with Worcester DVLA they will not let you use your own. After 2 visits and several
people they issued me we with a new one, although they said other DVLA centres may differ, this was a problem because I had already got an MOT &
Insurance with my made up number

It's a nightmare area, if mine argues then I am going to insist they call the DVLA at Swansea who told me to make it up, I questioned them and
they insisted I could.

They must have changed the rules then. I registered my car in worcester about a year ago. No problem with the number I supplied.

resurrecting this.
how does one get VIN? My formula 27 plate is blank. Do I need a number before SVA (hmm, should read my mag. again...)
but I know the lettering has to be permanent and over a certain size - so engraving should sort that or DIY with fine tip dremel

Yes, you will need a VIN number before SVA. Best bet is to contact your local DVLA and ask them if you can make it up or if they will issue you with
one.
