Mine's just got through SVA and is now registered and mine has an aluminium plate pop riveted onto the flat plate at the side of the battery.
No problem for either SVA or DVLA.

My Sierra bodyshell is still sitting on my drive awaiting collection. I've chopped the VIN plate off but is there anything else that needs
grinding off for Mr. SVA?
Cheers...Russ.

im not entirely sure that you actually need the vin plate for the age related plate (obviously not needed for a Q plate), maybe it just helps to
ensure that your donor doesnt end up recorded as scrap.
A wood chisel tapped across the rivet head is an easy way to get it off neat, as they are ali rivets i believe.

IIRC donor vin plate not needed (this confirmed by my local VLO OVER THREE YEARS AGO (slow build!!)
I have letter given to me at the moment by VLO signed a couple of days ago by local MOT garage to the effect that the VIN no has been applied
correctly - namely, stamped on chassis on offside of vehicle also stamped on a plate attached to the vehicle. Pics available if required.

And the other
For information - my chassis is stainless steel, but it was easy to do. Due to the curve of the chassis member, I did each stamp in two operations. OK
to do with care.
