New reg - worth going for?
The new part built car I have has been built so far using all new parts (except Sierra column and switch gear). Is it worth me continuing this route?
The only other non-new part will probbably be engine/box.
Is it worth going for a new reg, rather than a 'Q'. I realise a new plate will be more desirable if I sell, but will it cause problems for
future MOT's? I presume I will have to pass more stringent emissions every year. Anything else that is for or against? And How many non-new
parts can I have and still get a 'new plate'?

AFAIK all parts must be new or reconditioned to an as new standard. This might just involve a lick of paint though 
not sure where you would stand with emissions though.

i thought only one major item could be reconditioned of any description.
if you go bec, surely transmission only includes prop, diff and halfshafts

To be registered as a new vehicle the car must use not more than one reconditioned component, but evidence must be available that the component is to
an "as new" standard.
My reading of the leaflet I've just received from DVLA is that you also have to provide a certificate/evidence of "newness" of other
components used.

Was reading another forum recently, a guy on there was an MOT tester, and says that a Kit or amateur built vehicle will only ever be tested for
visible smoke at emissions. Any idea how true this is, I thought it was based on donor age?

AFAIK, its only Qs that get the visible smoke test, all others are tested as age related. maybe he assumed that all kits end up on a Q?

They've never used the sensor on my 'E' reg kit car but they used to on my Escort so I reckon they only use the visible smoke test
at my local garage
