Fuel filler - direct on tank??
Does anyone know the rules regarding location of the fuel filler nozzle and connecting pipe? Are there any??
Just stumbled across this pic in givemethebighammer's archive (hope you dont mind mate!)...
fuel filler
and it looks like the filler is mounted directly in the top of the tank.
Is this ok?
Its exactly what I'd like to do if its allowed/sensible. I suppose you'd have to careful with splashing fuel everywhere when filling up.
I want to put the tank above the diff (which is going to raise the CoG I know), don't like the idea of the tank hangin out at the back, which
means for a sensible size tank there's not much room between the top of it and the boot lid.

I'd recommend this approach or at least vertically into the tank from the boot lid as it takes forever to fill up the tank when the filler is
mounted on the rear panel.

For offroad racing (so I assume for all motor sport) filler directly on the tank is okay provided that the lid to access the fill on the panel above
is fuel tight. The point being that if you go over the fuel will not drio down your neck. However if the fuel cap is on the outside of the car its
fine. Bit of a naff rule as you do not need to protect an externally mounted filler. Anyway looks fine to me.

fuel filler cap
What your looking at chaps is and American plastic bodied fuel cell with a rubber blader inside filled with a curled plastic material to prevent
explosion. These tanks were built into WW 11 American aircraft. there is one in almost every style of racecar use in North America there ar two
companies in the US taht sell them Fuels Safe and ATL.

A bit of a hi-jack but....
My non-lockable filler cap will be mounted under a lockable flap which is also a functional vent in the bodyshell. Opening the flap gives you access
to the fuel filler and maybe dipstick and rad filler too.
Does anyone know if this is ok for SVA?
(apologies for the hi-jack)

its 50/50 on that one mate, i always thought it was ok but someone said they'd failed on it about a year ago.
My filler is rubber mounted but unsupported, directly over the tank. Iea 2 inch rubber hose links the lockable cap and the tank, but the cap isnt
fitted to a panel, it just sit there.
