SVA Fail at Southampton
Hi
Had my SVA at Southampton today it failed but it is what I consider a good fail.
1, 2 seat belt mounting bolts not marked 8.8 (supplied with belts).
2, The windscreen is not marked with the correct BS standard. Supplied by luego. in discussion with them!!!!
3, Side light bulb blew. that's just bad luck
4, Exterior mirrors, field of view.
5, A couple of sharp edges.
6, Steering column touches chassis. This is due to the Luego supplied part not being concentric. They are sending me a new one!!!
I have to say that I had some concerns about having my SVA at Southampton because of the negative reports I had read about them but they
couldn't have been a nicer couple of blokes. They were extremely helpful, friendly, enthusiastic and very fair. So a big thank you to Andy and
Lloyd who made the whole process almost enjoyable. Anyone who has concerns about Southampton, don't worry they will do everything they can to
help you pass.
Already sorted 2 of the failed items and hope to have it re-tested the week after next.
Keith

my seatbelt bolts are marked S (they are from securon) There is no 8.8 marking on them. Are they a likely SVA fail?
Luckily I'm going to the donnington show at the weekend. what are the correct size bolts?

S is the Olde Englyshe imperial standard for high tensile and is equivalent to 8.8 so should be fine.

Well done Keith, sounds like you've got a simple rework list.

Sounds easiy enough to fix, though i'd seriously be moaning at Leugo for those problems ! They should never of happened.
Make sure you take plenty spare bulbs next time

can i ask about the steering column touching the chassis -> i assume it touches the vertical bar at the far end ( front end ) of the chassis...
Our velocity does that too - you can clearly see the steering shaft is marked -
what can we do about it?

Keith, nice to see your worries were unfounded and all your efforts and hard work have paid off. Looks like you are within touching distance of the
finish line, so to speak, are they ever finished. I hope my trip to Soton SVA is as good,
Nige
